In the name of God Amen.  I James Crawford of Marion District in the
State of South Carolina being very weak in body but of perfect mind and
memory thanks be given unto God calling into mind the mortality of my body
and knowing that it is appointed for all all [sic] men once
to die do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament that is to say
principally and first of all I give and recommend my Soul into the hand of
Almighty God that gave it and my Body I reccommend to the Earth to be buried
in a decent christian burial at the discretion of my Executors nothing
doubting but at the [Universal] Resurrection I shall receive the same again
by the Mighty power of God  And as touching such worldly Estates wherewith it
has pleased God to bless me within this life I give [desire] and dispose of
the same in the following manner & form  First I give and bequeath to my
Daughter [Elisabeth] Tart One negroe Boy named [Dick] One other negroe Boy
named Peter  One negroe woman named [Fancy] and a Small Stock of Cattle  the
negroes and cattle before mentioned is now in the possession of my daughter
[Elisabeth] Tart  I also give to my well beloved Daughter Elisabeth Tart two
other negroes one woman named Bess and one girl named [Cecy]  Also I give to
well beloved daughter Charity Porter one negroe one negroe [words "one
negroe" repeated] Woman named Sally one negroe Boy named [Luke] one Girl
named Gussie and one old negroe named [Molle] Also I give to my well beloved
Daughter Martha Gasque one negro woman named [Bett] One Negro boy named Simon
& one negro man named Joe  Also I give and bequeath to my well beloved son
James Crawford one negroe man [Isiiak] One negroe woman named [Sue]  One
Negroe Girl named Mary  One negroe Boy named Bill and the Plantation and
tract of land situate at [Cashenaway] Ferry on PeeDee  Also I give to my well
beloved Daughter Sally Crawford One negroe man named Ben  One negroe woman
named Esther and her three children Manuel David & [Nelle]  Also I give to my
well beloved Daughter Nancy Crawford one Negro man named [Borough]  One
negroe woman named [Lilah] & her two children Frank & Will  Also I give to my
well beloved daughter Sarah Ann Crawford one negroe man named [Pirce]  One
negroe woman named [Aley] One negro boy named [Porce]  One negroe boy named
Stephen & one negro boy named [Tim]  Also I give the balance of my negroes
that is not already named in my will to be equally divided amongst my
children Share and share alike Also I give and bequeath to my three youngest
daughters Sally Crawford Nancy Crawford & Sarah Ann Crawford the Plantation
and tract of land which I now reside on Catfish to be equally divided amongst
them the Balance of my land to be given all the remaining part of my property
that I may be possessed of at the [stroke] of my decease to be equally
divided amongst my Heirs share and share alike  I likewise constitute make
and ordain my well beloved son James Crawford the sole Executor of this my
last Will and Testament and I do hereby utterly disallow revoke and disannul
all and every other former Testaments Wills legacies bequests and [Executor]
by me in anywise before named [willses] and bequests in ratifying and
confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament  In witness
whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal Seventeenth day of September in
the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and sixteen and on the forty
first year of the Independence of the United States of America signed sealed
published pronounced and delivered by the said JamesCrawford Senior as his
last Will and testament in the presence of us [who] in his presence and the
presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names

Seal and acknowledge this instrument writing to be his Will and Testament and
[also] saw Stephen C Lane sign his name as a witness to the same

James Crawford Sen Sign Seal publish pronounce and declare the same to be
[will written] his last Will and Testament & hath said James Crawford of then
of sound disposing Mind & memory & understanding to the [party] of this
deponents knowledge and belief [and that the said John Finklea did] his name
as a Witness thereto [at ......................]
