Peter Tiersma
Loyola Law School

As I teach it, this course covers the following material in roughly this order:

General principles of law and equity
Injunctions
Specific performance
Equitable defenses/contempt
Contract damages
Tort damages
Limitations on damages
Punitive damages
Restitution

The text is Shoben, Tabb, and Janutis, Remedies: Cases and Problems

The final examination will be based roughly 60% on a series of multiple choice questions (probably around 50 questions; time allocated is two hours) and an essay examination (one hour, usually consisting of a single fact pattern with perhaps two or three fairly general questions that you will be asked to answer).  The examination will be closed book.
