Joining the ILLA
The ILLA welcomes academics and
members of the legal profession who have an interest in language and
law. Currently, membership is free, and we hope to keep it
so. The ILLA aims to complement, rather than replace, other
organizations that are currently active in this area. Its primary
purpose is to serve as a clearinghouse of information about what is
happening around the world in the area of language and law.
Procedure
To join, send an
email to Peter.Tiersma@lls.edu. It should have "ILLA membership"
as subject heading. At the top of the message, please provide the
following information (any additional message should come below it):
- your last name, then first name (as in Smith, Elizabeth)
- your email address
- your position (optional)
- your institutional affliation (also optional)
- the words DO NOT POST if you do not want your email address
posted on the website. Your name and affiliation will be posted
in any event.
By becoming a member, you will receive
occasional (and carefully selected) emails regarding events and
conferences devoted to language and law, or conferences that have a
substantial component devoted to the subject. The ILLA may also
organize its own conferences, or add its imprimatur to conferences
being organized by members.
